As you will know, in order for the Disclosure process to work efficiently, Registered Bodies must establish the true identity of an applicant through the examination of a wide range of official documentation. Previously, the term ‘EU Photo Card’ has appeared within the list of valid identity documents for Group 1.
The CRB would like to clarify that it is not necessary for applicants to provide a piece of photo ID featuring an EU symbol.Any national identity card from a member state of the European Union is acceptable as a form of Group 1 verification, providing it meets the following criteria:
- The document states that it is a national identity card
- The document carries the photograph of the applicant
- The document carries the full name of the applicant that corresponds with that on the Disclosure Application Form
- The document is issued by one of the 27 EU Member States, listed below.
In order to avoid any future confusion, the CRB has decided to remove the current phraseology of ‘EU Photo Card’ and replace it with ‘EU National Identity Card’.
